About

Elsternwick Cricket Club is a community-based cricket club based in Melbourne, Australia.  The club’s home base is Elsternwick Park, which is approximately 10 km south east of the Melbourne CBD.  The club is affiliated with the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA), Cricket Southern Bayside (CSB), the South East Cricket Association (SECA) and Inner South East Cricket Association (ISEC) and All Girls Cricket Competition (AGCC).

The club fields four senior teams in the VSDCA, Victoria's second most senior turf competition. These teams typically play on Saturday afternoons between 1pm and 6 pm at Elsternwick Park Oval 1 and 2 (Homes-Todd Oval). The VSDCA is a 32-team competition split into four geographically aligned groups of eight teams. Elsternwick is in the South group and has developed a healthy rivalry with fellow South group clubs. The 1st and 2nd XIs play against one of the other three groups (North, East, West) every season on a rotating basis while the Third and Fourth XI's play against the East Group every season.  The 3rd and 4th XI competition is further split into 2 divisions resulting in two 8 team competitions. The club fields a Sunday one day team (5ths) in Cricket Southern Bayside who play on turf. We also field a women's team playing on Sundays in the Cricket Southern Bayside Competition.

The club runs a Woolworths Junior Blasters program for boys and girls aged 5-8 years old on Saturday mornings at Elsternwick Park in November, December and February of each season.  Master Blaster teams for children aged 7 to 9 years old are entered in competition at the Brighton Beach Oval Centre on Saturday mornings.  The club regularly has around 60 children participating in the two Blasters programs.

The Club’s junior boys teams play in the SECA on Friday nights and Saturday mornings at Elsternwick Park Oval 3 and 4 on synthetic wickets.  The club typically caters for around 100 junior players via Rookies, U12, U14 and U16 teams in this competition.  Each age group has a head coach that coordinates all training sessions, and every junior team is coached by a current or former junior player, with the assistance of parent team managers.  The club believes that the coaching program provides opportunities for young cricketers to further develop their life and cricket skills while giving the club’s young players a view of where they might head with their cricket.

The club shares Elsternwick Park with co-tenants the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), Old Melburnians Football Club (OMFC) and the Elsternwick Amateur Football Club (EAFC).  Elsternwick Park Oval No.1 and pavilion underwent a $6.4M redevelopment in 2018 and is now one of the premier community facilities in Melbourne.  The Holmes-Todd Oval (Elsternwick Park No.2) was redeveloped in 2019 with a new playing surface and pavilion and has become a wonderful facility.  The club’s synthetic practice facility was reconstructed and opened in November 2018 and is being enjoyed by all members of the club.

Elsternwick Park is well serviced for public transport with the Sandringham train line, Glenhuntly tram line and numerous bus routes passing close by the ground.  The closeness to the CBD and public transport make Elsternwick Cricket Club an ideal destination for cricketers working in the city or living in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs.

The club is an Incorporated association (registration number A0006109W) and has Rules, By Laws, Policies and Codes of Conduct that can be found in the Club Policies page. The club has an ABN 32 032 254 217.

The club holds a Restricted Club Liquor Licence (#31409134) and is accredited as a level 3 Good Sports Club.
